All Street Gallery is pleased to present Entrance – a solo exhibition by Aleksandra Dougal. On view from April 22 - May 1, 2024, the show presents a collection of paintings that transform the suspension of time within photographs into participatory moments of transition. Drawing from images of significant places and people in her life, Dougal refines their specificities and invites the viewer in through her use of light, movement, and monumental scale.

A distinctive feature of her process lies in referencing photographs captured months before the inception of each painting. By also using direct observation and memory while composing each piece, the paintings are imbued with a sense of distance, proximity, past, and presence. To the artist, the tension between the ephemerality and constancy of transitions –– within the depicted landscapes, thresholds, and passageways –– are subtle references to her acceptance of the passage of time.


About the Artist:
Aleksandra Dougal is a visual artist based between New England and New York City, working primarily with painting, photography, and book arts. Her process relies on paying close attention to visual fascinations within her daily surroundings, and documenting them to realize their patterns and concepts. She seeks to investigate what occupies the space between positionality and neutrality.
