LUCIDITY CAME SLOWLY

A Solo Exhibition by Mikko Castaño

Opening Reception
December 11 @ 7pm

NEW YORK, NY –  "Attached to course behavior it flowed/ a calm it urged, what else is here?"* Through photographs capturing scenes of elation, intensity, and longing, Lucidity Came Slowly reflects on nostalgizing the texture of youth. Featuring 49 photos taken between 2016-2024, the exhibition contains images of concerts, amusement parks, undergraduate life, and the "interstitial" moments of late adolescence. Lucidity Came Slowly is Mikko Castano's first solo photo exhibition and is curated with the help of Maggie Murtha and Yeon Cho. Captions, an accompanying photo zine will be released in conjunction with the exhibition's opening. Captions recontextualizes the photos in Lucidity Came Slowly through the modern vernacular of frivolity and yearning shared across social media.

* - lyrics from "Paprika" performed and written by Japanese Breakfast. Lucidity Came Slowly takes its name from "Paprika."
